THE TEAM

Julie MATHYS (RYT 500; RPYT)

My classes

My teaching is inspired by my personal practice of Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Jivamukti, and Restorative yoga.

My classes are therefore a creative mix of sequences of more or less dynamic movements and static poses in which breathing has a fundamental place.

I cultivate a warm environment that encourages you to develop your own practice according to your personal capacities by giving you all my expertise in alignment and the mechanics of the body and the mind, my goal being to reveal your full potential while making sure your practice is sustainable.

I offer group or private classes of vinyasa yoga, restorative yoga, and prenatal yoga as well as private classes more therapeutically.

A little about me

I come from the hectic world of law, but the movement was always my bubble of fresh air, starting with more than 20 years of ballet. At about 25 years old, I discovered Vinyasa yoga with my first teacher Federica GIOVANNINI. I loved how we could connect the breath to the movement, the freedom of being creative and being oneself. With her, I learned the importance of alignment regarding the morphology of each person, of not comparing yourself with others, and of taking your time. As I learned to be more flexible, particularly metaphorically speaking, I began to deal better with the fluctuations of daily life and my anxious thoughts.

After more than ten years of personal practice, I felt the urge to share the benefits of yoga and I trained to become a yoga teacher and created The Sakura Yoga.

My classes

I teach dynamic and sporty yoga classes which are intended in particular for people who seek both to tone the areas too much used in the various sports practices (core, lumbar, proprioception of the feet, etc.) and to restore space and comfort in their body.

I enjoy teaching in a relaxed, fun, and musical environment and look forward to sharing this with you.

A little about me

A very athletic and a former athlete, I am passionate about many sports including martial arts I have practiced in competition, but also board sports and ball sports.

About fifteen years ago, I started practicing yoga by chance and very irregularly at first.

I subsequently discovered the complement it gave me on the sidelines of my sports activities. In particular, I realized the importance of respecting my body so that I can continue to enjoy it for a long time and I also found a way to calm my mind to find more serenity in everyday life.

I then trained to become a teacher and graduated as a Hatha yoga teacher in 2015, so that I could pass on my passion for yoga and movement.

CAUSE YOU CAN HELP US SUPPORT

Kalaweit Association

My first meeting with a gibbon was during one of my first trips to Asia.

I fell for this little boil and when I discovered the Kalaweit Association which has been fighting since 1998 to save them in Indonesia, I could not help but support it in its fight to collect those illegally held captive and for its purchase of hectares of forest to prevent deforestation and create protected areas where gibbons can be released.

Each year I organize a workshop, usually in June, the profits of which are used to sponsor gibbons, but of course nothing prevents you from making a donation directly to them.
